Yoda is back!

What do we have in common?

Yes, that's right. We are all extremely cute. A less obvious reason that you may not have picked up on is that Yoda, the bilby and I all have very perky ears.

You can imagine how worried Mum and Dad were one day when they found me looking like this.

It turns out that I had an allergic reaction which caused my ear to become red and inflamed and FLOPPY! I also had a rash on my neck.

My Dad took me to the vet who gave me some cream and tablets to take. He couldn't be sure what I was allergic too, but it could be any number of things. We live next to the bush and I'm exposed to all sorts of plants and bugs here.

I was feeling a bit down but the cream and tablets worked really quickly. I didn't like it when Mum applied the cream on my rash. The tablets weren't too bad... actually I don't think I even had any. I just got a piece of cheese each night. I'm not sure what happened to the tablets.

I narrowly escaped the dreaded cone. I did hear Mum and Dad discussing it when they saw me scratching. Lucky for me the rash has cleared up. And my ear just mysteriously popped back up!

It's great that things are back to normal now but even better to know that Mum and Dad love me with or without Yoda ears. They just love me!

Still cute!

Memorial

Every month, Grandma, Mum and I go to this place where there's a fountain, beautiful flowers and gardens. We take a bunch of flowers to add to the rose tree that is already there.

It's usually sunny when we're there and we have a lovely time sitting by the fountain. I like to watch the fish. Sometimes they splash and scare me. No I'm not a scaredy cat! Some of them look bigger than me!

Sometimes we feed the fish.

Mum tells me that this is a place to remember my Grandpa. I've never met him but I think I would have loved him. He was an amazing Dad to my Mum and was the true meaning of unconditional love.

He had to go away a few years ago, much sooner than anyone thought. Especially my Mum. She misses him dearly, every single day and sometimes gets leaky eyes thinking about him.

Even though we know we can remember all the happy memories and think of Grandpa wherever we are, I really enjoy going to this place with Grandma and Mum every month.

My New Walker

Some of my twitter pals will know that Mum has been concerned about whether I was happy to go out with my walker. She just had a feeling that something wasn't right. She kept telling Dad that I seemed sad on the days that I'd gone out. Whenever Mum would ask my walker how I was, she wouldn't get much of a response.

Mum found out that someone else was coming to pick me up (not the person we met initially!) and I was being taken with a whole group of dogs to the Dog Park and spent it sitting around with my walker, not getting any exercise.

One of the reasons Mum chose this walker was because she offered to take photos of me on my walks. We were later told we would only get these monthly. However, when the end of the month came, we were told these photos were not available!

Mum decided to follow her instincts and made her mind up to find me another walker. Mum and Dad are at work so much that they think it's important that I get some interaction during the week.

We met a lovely girl called Alicia last week. She is extremely professional and so passionate about dogs. She put Mum's mind at ease and was genuinely interested in me. I liked her.

I went for my first walk with Alicia today. I had so much fun!

Alicia has a little chihuahua called Bailey. The first time Bailey came to my house we were unsure of each other. We got along better today. Hopefully we can be friends!

Not a word about the size difference thanks!

Thank you Alicia. I think I might have found a friend as well as a walker.

Please check out Alicia's website at http://www.welovedogz.com.au She also has a cool online shop with heaps of beautiful things for pups. I'm trying to convince Dad I need more clothes!

Gardening Thyme

It was a beautiful sunny day today. I thought it was perfect for napping in a sun puddle but Mum had other ideas. Apparently it was perfect for gardening.

There are some plants that grow everywhere in the garden but Mum likes to pull them up. I don't know why. She needs all the help she can get....so you'd think if something is growing she would be happy and leave it be, but no, she insists on pulling these plants called weeds up.

No weeds up here

Checking on the parsley. My piggy brother loves this!

Dad might need this for kindling tonight

Mondo what?
Do you think we have enough Rosemary?

Taking time out to smell the flowers

What are we planting here, Mum?
And my reward for being such a good gardener today......

I may not look too impressed here, but I do love baths. I get very excited when Mum fills the tub. Who's Yoda??!

Some gardening jokes...

Q: How well is your garden going to grow?
A: Only thyme will tell

Q: Why did the gardener quit?
A: His celery wasn’t high enough

Q: Why didn’t anyone laugh at the gardener’s jokes?
A: They were too corny

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

I heard someone say the other day...
"A day without a nap is like a cupcake without frosting."
I think this is so true. I love sleeping. I feel sorry for those that have trouble sleeping. I can sleep anywhere, anytime, sometimes even sitting up.

Gemma's Tips for a Good Sleep

Choose a comfortable place

Cuddle up to your toys

Rest up after an operation

Its a good time for a nap after the excitement of present opening at Christmas

A comfy cushion helps

Something soft to lie on

Get in any position that feels comfy

It's a good time to nod off when Dad's talking

Sun puddles make me sleepy

Tired out after a big weekend

Cosy jammies

Dimming the lights

Curling up after a long walk

Something to lean on

A blanket helps

But Mum & Dad's doona is better

Most importantly.. relax!
